Lady Lions Bounce Back on Saturday, Take Series 2-1 Against Baker

Baker’s Heather Gruber could only keep the Lindenwood softball bats quiet for so long. The Lady Lions erupted for a total of 28 hits in two victories Saturday afternoon, and advanced to the HAAC semifinals by winning the best-of-three series 2-1.

Lady Lions Will Host Baker in First Round of HAAC Tournament

The Lindenwood softball team earned the No. 1 seed in the HAAC postseason tournament after posting a 17-3 record during league play this year. The Lady Lions will host Baker in the opening round which begins Friday.

Softball Wins HAAC Regular Season Championship

The rain finally cooperated and the Lindenwood softball team took the field Tuesday afternoon against Missouri Valley for its final HAAC doubleheader of the season. Sophia Galati smacked three home runs, and pitchers Aubrey Moss and Rebecca Peddicord shut down the Vikings to propel the Lady Lions to their first HAAC championship since 2002.

Softball Caps Senior Night with a Win Over Division II Maryville

The Lindenwood softball team found its bats in game two of its doubleheader with NCAA Division II Maryville which helped the Lady Lions split with the Saints. After losing game one by a 4-1 score, the Lady Lions took game two by a 13-1 margin.

Lady Lions Close Out Regular Season This Week

The Lindenwood softball team concludes the regular season this week with a pair of doubleheaders against Maryville and Missouri Valley. Also up for grabs is the HAAC regular season championship. Two wins would give the Lady Lions the top seed in the conference postseason tournament, one loss could drop them to the third seed.

Facing a must win situation Sunday afternoon, the Lindenwood softball team delivered, sweeping Graceland in Lamoni, Iowa to keep pace in the race for the HAAC regular season crown. With two games remaining, the Lady Lions are one game out of first place.

Athletes of the Week

Mike Emerick

Men's Volleyball

Mike Emerick was named the 2009-10 Lindenwood Male Student-Athlete of the Year. Emerick, a men's volleyball player, was named the MAMVIC West Conference Libero of the Year for the second straight season. He collected 442 digs for an average of 3.5 digs a game, and was named the National Libero of the Week four times. Emerick is a Finance major at Lindenwood.

Cassie Williams

Women's Basketball

Cassie Williams was named the 2009-10 Lindenwood Female Student-Athlete of the Year. Williams, a women's basketball player, averaged 9.1 points and 7.3 rebounds for the Lady Lions last season. The four-year letterwinner finished her career with over 700 points and 500 rebounds, and nearly 200 assists. Williams is an Exercise Science major at Lindenwood.
